After experiencing both speech language pathology and accounting, I have learned a lot about these career paths. I have learned not only about the day-to-day work, but the schooling too. And after my experiences, I think I would like to major in speech language pathology and become a speech language pathologist. While being an SLP requires more schooling, it is a good job. Speech language pathology works with both data and people which I really like. In accounting, it is all data. Plus, being an SLP is rewarding because you are helping people overcome difficulties. I want to help people and by being an SLP, I can help people every day.
However, if for some reason I find myself not enjoying speech language pathology in college, accounting is a great second option. I like working with data and numbers making accounting a very reasonable career for me. And even though I won't be getting to work with people, I think accounting would still be a satisfactory job. Further, accounting can teach me real life knowledge that I will need like how to do taxes and manage personal finances, etc.
So in the end, my experiences have led me to choosing speech language pathology but keeping accounting as a backup plan.
